Holy crap.. i did it. Record breaking heat, and i was outside at a concert with 70,000 other people for three days. Yes, today, the weather channel said it hit 107. And i was outside. Austin City Limits Music Festival.
Acutally today was a little better than yesterday, probably cause we didn't get out there until 3pm, and we actually sat in the shade for a little while.
Here's who i saw & some comments
Friday
Kasabian - decent - 101.5 type of music
Steve Earle and the Dukes - great
Mates of State - only two of them, kind of monotonous
Iguanas - New Orleans rock, pretty good
Robert Earl Keen - the party never ends!
John Prine - my favorite of the weekend - i was front row center =)
Lyle Lovett and his large band - glad to have seen it, but i think i prefer a smaller band
Saturday
Mike Doughty's band - Dave Matthew's band clone, and pretty darn good!
Buddy Guy - good, but not my thing
The Weary Boys - kick ass country
Death Cab for Cutie - blah
John Butler Trio - really talented
Bruce Robison - my favorite of the day
Oasis - i actually knew their old songs
Sunday
The Bravery - good for a band i've never heard of
The Arcade Fire - random canadian band with young people and a lot of instruments. they were good
Bob Mould Band - from what i could see & hear, good. the sun was right on us then.
Franz Ferdinand - 101.5 type of music again, but everyone seemed to really like them
Dierks Bentley - I love me some country music.
Yes, i skipped Coldplay. I didn't feel like fighting the crowds anymore, and the dust today was really bad. I don't know their music all that well.. maybe some other time. oh, i just opened up my window, and i can hear them. =)
Each day i walked from home - its about a 30 min walk. It's nice not to worry about parking and all that.
